Come join FYD Waikato and be one of the first to experience Hamilton City Council’s Waiwhakareke Natural Heritage Park in the Hamilton BIG WALK.

Get those walking shoes on and come enjoy a 2km or 5km walk around Waiwhakareke - experience the wetlands and farming heritage of the region and reward your efforts with a big old kiwi BBQ and entertainment following.

Please note that no dogs are allowed on the premises of Waiwhakareke Natural Heritage Park.

The 2km track is a brief walk around the grounds of Waiwhakareke and is suitable for prams and all levels of fitness.

Experience all the beauty that Waiwhakareke has to offer as you walk the 5km track around the lake and developed wetlands, however; this track is not suitable for prams or bikes (off road buggys would be fine).

There will be a sausage sizzle and entertainment from local music and dance groups with a variety of activities and games for the kids and plenty of great prizes to be won for those who register online before the day!

FREE PARKING ON SITE!

9am: Registration at Waiwhakareke – entrance on Brymer road (opposite Hamilton Zoo) (everyone needs to check in with the registration team before the walk starts so that we can account for your safety during the event)
10.15am: Group warm up
10.30am: Walk commences
11am: Sausage sizzle, activities and entertainment commences
12.00pm: Spot prizes announced
12.30pm: Event concludes
