YOUTH CHARITY CONTRIBUTES TO NZ ECONOMY
Leading child and youth charity, the Foundation for Youth Development (FYD) has broken new ground with the launch of the Growing Great Futures - Whakatipu Tamariki Ora report this evening.
Launched at an event hosted at parliament by Minister for Social Development, Paula Bennett, this Infometrics report is a result of FYD’s move to provide evidence of their economic contribution to society. FYD is the first NZ charity to commission a report of this kind.

Nineteen extraordinary young people were recognised for their outstanding achievements at the Foundation for Youth Development (FYD) Excellence Awards last night. Award winners travelled from all over New Zealand to gather at Government House for the premier youth awards, a highlight on the FYD calendar.
The FYD Excellence Awards, sponsored by DNZ Property Fund, acknowledge the accomplishments of outstanding young people, many of whom have made massive changes to both their outlook and direction in life says FYD’s CEO Marion Short.

The Foundation for Youth Development‘s (FYD) Career Navigator programme is already proving a success. Launched at Manurewa High School last Friday, employers involved with the pilot have expressed interest in working with the school and FYD to offer employment opportunities to their students.
FYD CEO Marion Short says FYD was very pleased with the results of the pilot at Manurewa High School and is looking forward to expanding the programme. “We couldn’t be happier with how Friday went,” says Short. “The possibility of placing Manurewa High School students in employment positions has exceeded our expectations and is a direct result of the bridging role Career Navigator can play between employers and students.

The Foundation for Youth Development (FYD) is launching the pilot of their new Career Navigator programme at Manurewa High School next Friday.
Career Navigator, a school-based ready-for-work programme, is designed to provide secondary school students with the information they need to make informed decisions about future employment.
The pilot programme launches at Manurewa High School, a decile two school where the transition to employment or further education is often a challenge for school leavers.

Auckland Airport today handed over the final installment of a total $59,000 donation to the Foundation for Youth Development (FYD).
The money was raised through a unique auction held by Auckland Airport in April which saw pieces of the Airport’s 30 year old Solari board flight displays up for sale on Trade-me.
The majority of the proceeds from the Auckland Airport Solari board auction was presented to FYD in May and has been used to directly support the foundation’s programmes in the South Auckland region, helping kids in this community ...

New Zealand Tennis No. 1 Marina Erakovic is teaming up with Project K to grow a nation of great Kiwi Kids. Erakovic will be auctioning off a range of autographed tennis apparel from the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the charitable trust, The Foundation for Youth Development (FYD) founded by Graeme Dingle.
