Wearable Art with a difference

Wearable ArtOver the last term children at Temuka Primary School have been learning about the environment.  We have been teaching the kids about recycling, looking after the classroom and school environment, and the community.  Last week as part of studying the theme we held a wearable art competition for each class, making some fantastic creations from recycled materials.  It was great to see the children working together and thinking outside the square.

Kiwi Can Temuka Primary make local resident's smile!

Smile WeekTemuka Primary School children as part of Smile Week; a Kiwi Can intiative, recently distributed 2300 smiley face cards to every local resident inviting them to attend a morning tea at the school.

Smile Week is a first and helped children learn respect, manners, respobsibility and honesty.

The school recieved an overwhelming 400 responses to the cards, while about 100 residents attended the morning tea.  People  who attended the morning tea said it was a valuable experience and a great way Smile Weekto reach out to the community.
