Kiwi Can Leaders - Tauranga x2 female

Two Kiwi Can Leader positions based in Tauranga. One is a fixed term to cover parental leave for six months, the other a permanent position.

Kiwi Can Leaders - Kaikohe x2

The programme is run in 4 schools in the Kaikohe district and requires two part time leaders (21 hrs/wk) as per the designated school timetable.

Applicants need to be vibrant, enthusiastic and highly motivated. You need to be good at working with others, organised, able to inspire and to provide a role model for the children. Te Reo is an advantage. The two leaders work as a team, so the successful applicant needs to be considerate and have the ability to share responsibility.

We expect our leaders to be role models for the pupils they work with therefore a high ethical and professional outlook on life is important.

The successful applicants require a clean driver’s licence, and clean police record.

Initial and ongoing training is provided.

The opportunity of being a Kiwi Can leader provides skills that will enhance and add to previous experience of thoseworking in the field of children’s education. This programme helps children to become more confident, respect themselves and others, and be better able to handle challenges and opportunities.

Previous experience in health or physical education, or child based learning environments is not essential but advantageous.

 

Kiwi Can and Stars Co-ordinator - Kaikohe

An energetic and inspiring person, with excellent management and administrative skills, is sought to work with a community-based youth development programme in Kaikohe. Stars and Kiwi Can are Foundation for Youth Development programmes delivered under licence by Te Runanga-A-Iwi-O-Ngapuhi. These school-based programmes aim to inspire young people to reach their potential through building self-confidence, promoting good health and education and teaching life skills such as goal setting.

We are seeking a person with a strong understanding of the local Kaikohe community and with Te Reo as an advantage. This person will be pivotal in managing the Te Runanga-A-Iwi-O-Ngapuhi Kiwi Can and Stars administration and co-ordinating programmes.

You will have the following skills and attributes:
• The ability to build excellent relationships with key stakeholder groups
• Strong people management and administrative skills including concise writing and reporting abilities
• An energetic attitude with an ability to inspire and motivate others
• Experience in business and financial management including budgeting abilities
• The ability to communicate and negotiate at commercial and community level
• Experience in fundraising and marketing would be advantageous

While this role is more managerial than hands-on, the ideal candidate will have experience working with young people, parents, schools and adult volunteers and will be required to stand in for the programme leaders where required. The successful applicant will require a clean driver’s licence and clean police record.
