Stars Adventure Camp 2010
More than 100 Year 9 students from Tokoroa High School, along with their Peer Mentors have just taken part in a week-long Stars Adventure Camp in Rotorua. The camp is the first major event in the Stars programme and aims to help the new high school students smooth the transition and build a relationship with the seniors (Peer Mentors) in the school. The Peer Mentors completed training in the Summer holidays so that when school began, they felt confident and excited.
The camp is a great experience for the students who learn how to step outside their comfort zone and feel a sense of achievement when they accomplish a task. Stars Coordinator, Tony Jones, organised a full calendar and according to the feedback received, the highlights included the team challenge, abseiling, horseriding and the concert.
