Doing good, feeling good
'It made me feel good doing something for the community,' was the overwhelming response from Stars students participating in community projects this year.
As part of the year long programme, Year 9 Stars students complete a community project with assistance from peer mentors and teachers.
The community project helps students to connect with their community and think about how they can contribute positively.
Volunteering has also shown to benefit students with a more positive attitude, increased social interaction and decreased problem behaviours.
Many students learnt that you can make people smile with small inexpensive gestures and that it made them feel good too.
