Havelock North High School

2007 saw our first programme at Havelock North High School.

Our twelve students were selected towards the end of Term 1 and faced their Wilderness Adventure in April.  They had an amazing time, with many of them wishing they could go back and do it all again.

We endeavoured to broaden their knowledge of their local community during the second stage, the Community Challenge, encouraging them to become a larger part of that community.

They put their teamwork skills to the test as they had to guide each other to the top of Te Mata Peak while members of the group were blindfolded, completing many challenges on the way.

The students organised a fun day for the children of Village Kids, Havelock North for their Community Project.  This was hugely successful.  The children of Village Kids enjoyed it immensely, while our students learnt the challenge of motivating others.

All our students are now matched with their individual mentors, and are approaching their 6 month goal review before graduating in July 2008.

We look forward to selecting the students for the 2008 programme due to start in March.

'We learnt some of the most vital steps to enjoying and getting the most out of life.' - Havelock North 2007 student
