About Us
Foundation for Youth Development Waitakere has been working with Waitakere City youth since 2004. To date we have worked with nearly 200 14 - 15 year olds via the successful Project K programme and trained over 300 adult volunteers as mentors. We have seen some amazing changes made by our students as they begin their life journeys' realising their true capabilities. To all our graduates, we wish you all the success in the world.
2009 will see some exciting changes to our organisation. We will be delivering more Foundation for Youth Development programmes, be the first city nationally to pilot Foundation for Youth Development's Community Impact Direction, expand our office and go from working with approx 50 young people each year to nearly 1600! It's Foundation for Youth Development Waitakere's goal to run the Kiwi Can programme in local primary and intermediate schools, and Stars and Project K in the local secondary school. This means that all youth from one community will be receiving the same positive life messages and skills (at an age appropriate level) as they grow up and develop into young adults. Our trust will be working with young people on a weekly basis, every week of the school year!
