Artist Description:
‘I am’ refers to the ideas behind what shapes the kind of people we are today. I believe this concept has three main parts:
My genes will tell you that I am a Cook Islander, I am the offspring of my parents, I am what you physically see.
The environment I was brought up in will tell you that I am a New Zealander, I am South Auckland born and raised, I am a Christian, which are all identities specific to the location I was raised.
These two main ideas, although they appear to be physically obvious, have very little to do with shaping who I am. The number one contributor to shaping the kind of people we are is the kind of choices we make. I am who I choose to be. If I am successful it is because I choose to be. If I am a failure it is because I choose to be. The choices we make shape the people we become.

I am Scottish and I'm a Year 8 at Mangorei School, New Plymouth. I have lived in NZ for nearly three years and I really enjoy horse riding, drawing, reading, cricket, and most other sporty/social activities.
My idea came from thinking that there are no set choices and there are lots of options out there. The main message I tried to put through was: "Be who you want to be and live your dream!".
This topic is important to me because peer pressure is a big problem, but you can't let go of what you really want.

This design represents a world full of youth united as one.
Moemoeā means dream and by using symbols and icons of careers young people dream of pursuing like artists, rugby players, authors, film makers, chefs and mountaineers just to name a few, this shows how the world really is our oyster.

I’m 10 years old and I go to Kohimarama School which I really enjoy. Outside of school, I like to play basketball and spend time with friends.
I have always liked dinosaurs and will never stop liking them. Ever since I was a little kid I’ve always loved dinosaurs. And my dream was to see a real live dinosaur.
