About us Kiwi Can Stars Our supporters

The Stars Kaikohe Community Project was completed over Term 3 and consisted of guest speakers coming into the college to talk about the history of Lake Omapere and the environmental effects that dairy farming has had on the Lake over the last century.

This lead to the students preparing flax for planting and, in the weeks following, going out to the Lake to plant for three days.

The students learnt about the importance of Riparian planting.

The special nature of this project was that the current Peer Mentors were returning with their Yr 9 students to complete work that they themselves had completed as Year 9s for their community project five years ago.
